Greek President Karolos Papoulias discussed with his Bulgarian counterpart Georgi Purvanov Kosovo's status during a visit to Bulgaria.

Purvanov said as quoted by Focus news agency that a decision, which takes into account the interest of Kosovo's population, the cities of Belgrade and Pristina and all countries in the region is needed.

A decision attempting to create an ethnically pure state is unacceptable, Purvanov said.

Apart from Kosovo, Papoulias commented on the closure of units of Bulgaria's Kozloduy nuclear power plant (NPP).
The closure of Kozloduy units is an internal subject for Bulgaria and concerns the country's relations with EU, Papoulias said.

The two presidents also discussed the Bourgas-Alexandroupolis oil pipeline project. The implementation of the project was a significant achievement in both countries' efforts for diversification of the energy relations in Europe, Purvanov said.

The extension of the network for natural gas transportation through Bulgaria to Greece and other countries in the region is another important step towards that aim.
